July 27, 2017 (London, ONTARIO) – The London Lightning announced Friday that 2016-2017 NBL MVP Royce White will return to the organization for the 2017-2018 season.
“I’m happy to announce that reigning league MVP, Royce White, has signed to play in London, despite the fact he received offers to play in the NBA Summer League, NBA G League and in Europe.” said owner-general manager, Vito Frijia.
White was instrumental to the Lightning’s third championship and the league’s winningest season ever. White averaged 21 points, 11 rebounds and six assists during the 2016-2017 season. He also led the league in total rebounds and was second in the league for total scoring.
“I had a great time here in London. I couldn’t have asked to play in a better situation or organization for my first pro season.” said White. “My life here is balanced. I had great comradery with the guys and a lot of support from the London community.”
“We are going to win again, period. We are going to defend our title.”
