February 28, 2017 (Saint John, New Brunswick) – The London Lightning recorded their 14th win in a row Tuesday with a 116-96 win over the Saint John Riptide. The Lightning are the top team in the league, standing at 18-3 and have again set the league record for consecutive wins.
“It wasn’t pretty. The road trip has taken its toll but we gutted out a win,” said head coach Kyle Julius. “I’m extremely proud of what this team has accomplished in the past five weeks, they’ve been exceptional.”
Royce White led the team in scoring with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Doug Herring Jr. added 24 points and Canadian Joel Friesen recorded 20 points and 8 rebounds.
“This was our third game on a long road trip and we had to rely on one another to generate energy as a team. Tonight I played with confidence and I owe that to my teammates.” said Friesen.
The Lightning will now make the trip back to Ontario and will enjoy a bit of break before they head to Windsor Wednesday, March 8 to play the Express. The Lightning will return to their home court on Saturday, March 11 when they play the Niagara River Lions. Tickets are available through the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
