The London Lightning return to Budweiser Gardens for their first home game of the 2017-18 season, this time with an extra treat for fans. Fans can watch as the Lightning raise their third banner into the rafters, then see the Bolts take on the team they beat to win that championship, the Halifax Hurricanes.
The Lightning will be looking to notch their first win of the season after falling 120-114 to the Niagara River Lions in their season opener. Garrett Williamson led the team in scoring with 28 points, while Joel Friesen-Latty added 23 points.
The Hurricanes meanwhile have come out of the gates strong, winning two out of three to start the season. Last night they fell 108-94 to the Windsor Express.
Like London, Halifax returns a large number of the team they had last season, including athletic forward Billy White, and sharp shooting guard Antoine Mason. The team also has Cliff Clinkscales returning for his fifth season manning the point.
For London, look for Royce White and Ryan Anderson to do a lot of the heavy lifting, as both players were integral to London’s game plan against the Hurricanes in the NBL Finals. White in particular has a size advantage over the interior players on Halifax.
Defensively, Anderson will likely be tasked with covering Mason, who is one of the tougher guards to stop in the NBLC. The Lightning will also look to Yohanny Dalembert to protect the paint against Billy White and Tyrone Watson.
