The first of two monumental games of the 2016/17 NBLC season will take place on Family Day Monday when the Halifax Hurricanes (15-3) come to London (14-3) for a rematch of the 2016 NBLC Final.
Monday’s afternoon tilt also be a record-setting one for the Bolts, who are looking to match a franchise record 11-game win streak.
The 11th win might be the hardest for the Lightning. Halifax has been atop both the Atlantic Divison and League standings from the opening weekend of the season. Returning players Clifford Clinkscales (7.5 apg) and Billy White (16 ppg, .612 FG%) have been standout performers for the defending champs, giving Mike Leslie’s team a sense of consistency from last year’s team.
The Lightning won their tenth consecutive game 109-97 at home on Saturday over the Orangeville A’s. Saturday’s chippy affair was the first game for London in nine days.
London will need to take advantage of their open looks. Halifax sports the best defense in the NBLC (98.7 opponent ppg, .428 opponent FG%).
These two teams will play again on Thursday in Halifax.
